Our tuk tuk driver flying through the streets of Bangkok at top speed. Only the laws of physics keep him from entering warp drive and hurling us into the 34th century. He shifts gears with his whole body, causing the tuk tuk to lurch right with each increase in the pitch of his wailing engine. He slams the vehicle into spaces only barely big enough between trucks and busses, motorbikes and other crazed tuk tuk drivers, and magically we are not catapulted from our glittery vinyl seats. An Illegal U-turn throws us headlong into an oncoming herd of helmetless motorbikers, some with wives and children on board. Amazingly, and unexpectedly, we survive unmangled and after accepting a handful of bhat the smiling driver rockets away in a puff of fumes. "Khob khun krub!" he says almost too quietly to be heard. Now we're on the street again, and of course, there's a place to buy really tasty sausages and curries right there where we're standing.
I foresee much motion sickness when i visit someday....;-)
